Tyke Select Team Wins Oshawa 40th Anniversary Heritage Classic
Congratulations to our East Gwillimbury Eagles on winning the Tyke Select Championship at the 40th Anniversary of the Heritage Classic Tournament hosted by the Oshawa Church Hockey League this past weekend.
Our Eagles went undefeated through the round robin, with wins over the Oshawa Hawks (8-0), Oshawa Falcons (4-3), and East York Bulldogs (12-1).
In the championship game, their hard work, great team play and determination led to a decisive 10-1 victory over the Avenue Road Ducks.
Over the tournament our Tykes lead all teams on both ends of the ice, with strong offensive play that generated 34 goals for and outstanding defensive play/goaltending that only saw 5 goals against.
After each game, tournament officials also awarded Player of the Game medals. Our Eagles Players of the Game were Daniel, Jessica, Carden and Kurtis!
Congratulations to the whole team on another impressive tournament win: Amelia, Owen M, Fisher, Kurtis, Jessica, Ethan, Aiden, Daniel, Damon, Devon, Carden, Ben, Emerson, and Destin (and coaches: Todd, Kenny, Reid and Paul) – on such an exciting weekend.
Also thank you to the parents, grandparents and others for supporting our team!
Please note that the team has been entered into the Ford Drills and Skills Contest. Voting is open for the month of February. If you get a chance, please vote for our Tyke Selects, if they place in the top sixteen teams they will have an opportunity to train like a pro at the Air Canada Centre.
