Atom Eagles are Mary Parkinson Memorial Early Bird Champions
Congrats to our Atom Eagles who won their first tournament of the season!
Going into this tournament, our Eagles had the pressure on them as they won the tournament in Novice and lost in a tough final last year in the Minor Atom division. They didn't want a repeat of last year and were determined to become Mary Parkinson Champions again. They didn't disappoint as they went undefeated in Round Robin play. They opened the tournament with a strong 7-0 win against North Toronto and followed that up with a 7-2 win over the host Richmond Hill Stars.
Their third game was a physical one against the London Jr Mustangs, they opened up an early lead but the Mustangs battles back to end the game in a 2-2 tie. The last game of the Round Robin was another tough one against the Caledon Hawks, they opened an early 3-0 lead but Caledon wasn't going down easy and worked their way back into the game but our Eagles buckled down and pulled out a 3-2 win to finish first in their division.
In the Semi Finals our Eagles didn't slow down with a 4-2 over the always tough Innisfil Winterhawks. In the Championship game our Eagles were firing on all cylinders and worked their way to a 4-1 win over the very formidable Oakville Rangers. A fantastic way to start their season, congrats Atom Eagles!!
