Atom Eagles win Niagara Falls Festival of Lights
Congrats to our Atom Eagles who traveled down to the United States for the Festival of Lights Tournament in Niagara Falls, New York the weekend of Nov 29th to Dec 1st.
Competing in the AA Squirt Division, our Eagles proved to be the class of the field going undefeated for the weekend. The US teams they faced didn't give up and battled to the end of each game not wanting to lose to the visiting Canadians!
Our Eagles opened the tournament with a 6-2 win over the Tom River team from New Jersey. They went on during the round robin to claim wins over teams from Tonawanda (6-4) and West Seneca (7-2) and booked their ticket to the Championship game on Sunday.
Sunday, our Eagles woke up to an ice storm, but they didn't let the weather and delays in game time interfere with their focus. In a rematch against a tough Tom River team, the final was a close 3-2 score for most of the game, until the last five minutes when our Eagles just over powered the New Jersey team to win the Championship with a 6-2 final score.
This was another great tournament for our Eagle Atoms, who won their Early Bird in September and won the Silver Medal in Pittsburgh in October! Looking forward to what the rest of the season brings for this young team who are proving to a be a tough competitor in the YSMHL AA Atom Division this year.
Congrats Atom Eagles!!! This accomplishment has been viewed 735 times.
