Bantam A Eagles win Liberty Cup Winter Classic
All aboard the bus!!
What a great trip and a once in a lifetime experience for the Bantam Eagles. Our Eagles took a coach bus down to our last tournament in Philadelphia (in December). The boys had a blast on the bus and it was a great team-building experience. THey did a penitentiary tour, saw the Flyers game and got to see some of the history in the city.
Our Eagles first game was Friday afternoon, and there was definitely some rust on the blades in that first game, but the boys managed to defeat a tough New York A team 4-3. The second game was Friday night, and it was another battle with a NY team, AA this time and we emerged victorious 3-1 with a late 3rd period rally to score all 3. Saturday morning was when the momentum really started to get rolling and they were faced a tough Niagara Falls (Cdn) team and took it with a score of 5-3...finished first in the division and here we come Sunday.
Semi finals at 8:30 was a bit of a struggle for our Bantam Eagles, but the momentum was already unstoppable, and we beat Niagara again, this time shutting them out and dominating them 6-0, setting up a rematch with the NY AA team for the finals at 2:00.
Nothing was stopping the Eagles that day, as they scored on the first shift and again shortly after, and played the best hockey of the weekend in the final game. Everybody stepped up despite half the team fighting colds and injuries, and they cruised to another shutout victory, and another tourney win!! The bus ride home seemed to take half as long after that win!!
Great weekend boys, proud of all of you!!
