Registration is now open for players born in 2016 and 2017 that are interested in attending evaluations for the U8 and U9 MD teams. Please note MD teams are required to be compliant with OMHA Residency Rules, meaning players must live in East Gwillimbury to be evaluated.
In cases where there is a shortage of players to be evaluated, we may be able to consider playings that live in the Upper York Minor Hockey residential boundaries that are outside of East Gwillimbury
Our U8 MD Coach Jeff Weiss and U9 Coach Chris Johnstone are both excited for the upcoming season and look forward to welcoming your player to their evaluations.
What is MD Hockey?
The Minor Development (MD) hockey program operates very similar to the older ages Representative (rep) hockey program. The typical MD Team commitment is 2 games per week (half home and half away games), 1-2 practices per week, 2-4 tournaments per season (1-2 local, 1-2 overnight).
While MD hockey may seem to be a relatively more expensive than house league recreational activity, however it does offer good value. In reality the cost of MD hockey is not significantly more than the cost of house league hockey when you look at it from a per on-ice cost. MD hockey players pay the same EGMHA basic registration fee as house league. On top of that each Rep team sets an individual team budget. Budgets will vary depending on the individual coaches, ages and team input. Fundraising is allowed to offset some of these fees and depending on parent involvement, fundraising can sometimes off-set the some of the cost. In general, you can expect a typical team budget to be between $1000 and $1500 per player (on top of registration fees) a year (per player) for MD hockey in East Gwillimbury.
The cost per player to participate in the evaluations is $60.00.

U9MD Evaluation Schedule:
Sunday September 8th @ 1:00 pm
Tuesday September 10th @ 7:00 pm
Friday September 13th @ 7:00 pm
