Atom Select Eagles Win Pickering Spring Thaw Tournament
Submitted By EGMHA Webmaster (JM) on Thursday, April 06, 2017
Congratulations to the Atom Select team on their successful weekend in the “Spring Thaw 2017!” Select Tournament held in Pickering.  Our Eagles had a packed schedule that would see them open the tournament with an 8-2 win against the Pickering Panthers.

In the second game of the day our Eagles ran into little trouble against the Napanee Stars but fought through to end in a deadlocked 2-2 tie which put them in second place overall.

On day 2, the Eagles faced the Frontenac Flyers and fought a great battle but lost 4-3, but with luck on their side, they made the Semi-Final’s.

The semi-final was a rematch of their third game of the tournament vs. The Frontenac Flyers but this yielded a very different result.  The boys were charged and played an amazing game winning the Semi-Final (3-0).

On Sunday afternoon, the stage was set at the Don Beer Arena.  Our Eagles faced the Georgina Blaze in very exciting Championship game.  Our Eagles wasted little time scoring the opening goal 5 minutes into the first.  The second period was action packed with our Eagles netting two more goals to make it 3-0 going into the third.  Our Eagles stayed strong and won the game with a final score of 3-0, making them tournament champions for the first time this season.
