EGMHA Offering Coach 1 - Intro to Coach Clinic
Submitted By EGMHA Webmaster (JM) on Wednesday, May 30, 2018
EGMHA will be hosting a Coach 1 - Intro to Coach Clinic on Sunday September 16, 2018 at the EG Sports Complex.

Coach 1 is part of Hockey Canada's National Coaching Certification Program and is required for the coach who will be coaching Initiation, Tyke or Novice.

The program is based with the players’ development in mind, starting with basic, technical skills. Upon completing this clinic you will be trained to:

·        Use HOCKEY CANADA resources to plan on/off-ice activities;

·        Communicate effectively with players, parents, officials and league administrators;

·        Encourage participants and work within fair play guidelines;

·        Conduct safe, effective and age appropriate on-ice practice drills;

·        Apply an ethical decision making process.

The Coach 1 - Intro to Coach clinic is delivered in two steps:

4-hour Hockey University *HU - ONLINE Coach 1 / 2 clinic: This course must be completed before registering for Step 2. The only way to access the Hockey University (*HU) online module is to register for a Hockey University *HU - ONLINE Coach 1/2 clinic. Upon registration you will be provided with a link to the Hockey University (*HU) online module.

If you already have the Hockey University *HU - ONLINE Coach 1 / 2 course from a previous Coach 1 or Coach 2 clinic you are not required to take it again.

In-person clinic will be hosted Sunday September 16, 2018
Includes 4 hours in-class and 2 hours on-ice.

The Clinic will run from 10:00 - 5:30 pm at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex.
Fee for the course is $150.00.

Please note any EGMHA members completing this course, can apply to be reimbursed for the cost once they have been rostered to a house league team for the 2018-19 season.

Any questions regarding the clinic can be sent to Cathy Kopsala
, EGMHA Registrar
