Battle of the Gwillimburies
WE THE EAST!!!!!

The EGMHA Eagles are gearing up for the Eighth Annual Battle of the Gwillimburies Weekend from Dec 13th to 15th.

It is promising to be be an exciting weekend as the West Gwillimbury and East Gwillimbury teams battle it out for hockey bragging rights.

The inaugural event started in 2012 with East Gwillimbury capturing the titles in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017 and the Bulldogs taking the title in 2013 and 2015. Last year the action was so tight that the official result was a tie!   This year both teams want the title!

COME ON OUT IN YOUR EAGLES WEAR TO SHOW THAT THE EAST RULES!!!!

The Minor Novice Select team will kick off the action here at home with an Exhibition Game on Friday Dec 13th at 6:00 pm.  Immediately following that game our Midget A Eagles will take the ice at 7:00 pm and start the quest to bring the Cup home to the East!

Action will continue on Saturday in EG when the Minor A team takes the ice at 2:10 pm, with the rest of the rep teams playing throughout the day at either the Bob Fallis or Bradford Leisure Centre ice pads.  The Official Puck drop by both Mayors is set for Saturday at 4:30 prior to the Minor PeeWee A game at the Bradford Leisure Centre.

On Sunday, we have a busy day here at home with the Novice A team kicking off the games at 2:00 pm on the West Pad, and our Eagles will play all day with the Minor PeeWee A team wrapping up the day in EG with a 5:40 pm start time.

The last game of the Battle will take place on Wednesday December 18th here at home when the Bantam A team takes the ice at 7:00 pm.

A full listing of game times and locations are below.

Note - due to both scheduling conflicts, the Bantam A teams will be playing on dates prior and following the official Battle Weekend.  Minor Novice Select games are considered Exhibition and no scores will be counted as per the OMHA Novice and Below Program.

The Gwillmbury Cup is not the only thing on the line as our Mayor challenge is returning this year!  The mayor of the losing team will have to wear the winning team’s jersey at an upcoming council meeting.

Don't miss this exciting annual event, come out and cheer on your hometown teams!
