On Saturday March 19th and Monday March 21st, our U12 AA Eagles and the Markham Islanders U12 AA team participated in two exhibition games. During these games tickets were sold to raise funds for charities supporting relief efforts in Ukraine resulting in a grand total of $2,244.46.
The funds collected have been donated evenly between the following charities:
- Save the Children
- United Nations Refugee Agency-Ukraine
U12AA Eagles could not have done this without the support and participation of the Markham Islanders U12 AA team and families. Thank you for joining our Eagles to play two great games and for your generous donations.
The U12AA Eagles would also like to thank the U18A team who provided a generous contribution to kickstart this worthy cause. The funds from that donation came from a Chuck-A-Puck event that occurred during a U18A game earlier in the month. The Eagles would also link to thank all our Eagle families, friends, and fans within our community for coming out to support this great event.
Fundraising is only successful when you have wonderful volunteers who step up to give of their time and energy to support these initiatives. Thank you, Shannon Scott, for organizing and coordinating this event, and to all our volunteers who collected tickets sales on the game days!
Last but never least, the Eagles players would like to thank their Head Coach Ryan Smith. This event was his idea, and it set an excellent example for our players on how important it is to give back to others.
