U13A Eagles are York Simcoe Champions
Congratulations to the U13A Eagles for capturing the York Simcoe Championship!
The team entered the York Simcoe Playoffs as the #2 seeded team. They opened Round Robin play with a 4-1 win over Newmarket and then ties against Markham and Innisfil. They wrapped up the Round Robin with a 5-1 win over Georgina. To finished second behind Aurora in the qualifying Round Robin
The Semi-finals saw a rematch with the Innisfil Winterhawks and was nailbiter 2-2 tie. After 4 minutes of 3 on 3 OT, our Eagles sniped the winner.
In the Championship game, the Eagles were pitted against the Aurora Tigers who also won their Semi-final matchup against the Barrie Colts in OT. After a tight first period, the Eagles found their stride and won the title with a convincing 8-2 win over the Tigers.
The York Simcoe Championship was the end to a fantastic season for this team, who had to rebuild after losing 6 players this season. The returning and new players worked hard to come together as a team and were able to claim three tournament victories in addition to the YS Title, winning the Bradford Blue and Gold in November, our own Dunsmuir Memorial Tournament in February and the Toronto Avalanche March Meltdown at the beginning of April.
We are extremely proud of all the players for their dedication and effort all season long!! Thank you to all the Parents who supported their players and to the Coaches and Manager for all of their efforts this season.
