Novice and Atom Skating Development
Based on success from previous seasons, we are pleased to announce that the EGMHA will continue to provide additionalskating instruction for our young players. Some centres have done this with their young players for many years resulting inclearly demonstrated progression of skating skills.
Starting Sunday October 6 from 8:00 - 8:50 am, the EGMHA will be providing optional skating instruction at no charge for all Novice and Atom players.
These sessions are open to all Novice and Atom Rep and House League players and is optional.
We will also be providing in-practice skating instruction with the same instructors and this will be coordinated with the coaches.
This season we will have two Skate Canada Level 1 Figure Skating Coaches on ice for the instruction. The instructors will be working first and foremost on edge work and balance. These are the prerequisites for stronger skating and power skating. The instructors realize that there will be a wide range of skating skills across the players and they have instruction techniques that will address the skill level of all. We hope that this will give a real boost for weaker skaters and continue the development of stronger skaters.
The players will wear full equipment and will bring their sticks although there will be many drills without sticks. There won't be any pucks as this is skating focus only. Note that this does not replace or compete with the Friday night clinics as they complement each other.
