PeeWee LL 1 (Greig) win Oak Ridge Local League Tournament
Congratulations to our Peewee LL Team #1 (Greig) for winning the Championship at the Oak Ridges Local League Tournament this past weekend.
Our Eagles were very impressive who went undefeated over the weekend. They opened the tournament with a 6-0 win over Newmarket on Friday night. Saturday afternoon they beat a Richmond Hill team they were tied with in the Local League standings with a 7-2 score.
Next was the Saturday Night prime time slot against another Richmond Hill team that sits second in the overall in Local League standings. Our Eagles needed a win or tie to advance to the Championship game and hung on for a 4-4 tie. It was enough for the team to qualify for the final against our very own EG Eagles LL Team #4 (Castaldi) to set up an “All Eagles” Championship Final!
two Eagles squads had a close, tense Championship Game. Entering the 3rd period tied at 2, Team Greig scored 2 quick goals at the halfway mark and then began to run into penalty troubles. Team Castaldi scored on one of the powerplays to make it a race to the buzzer. Team Greig held on for the 4-3 win. Great effort from both Eagles teams! The coaching staff were very proud of the teams for their strong effort, working together and raising their game to a higher level!
