2023-24 EGMHA Award Nominations
EGMHA is now accepting nominations for Player, Coach and Spirit Award Nominations. All Nominations must be submitted via the appropriate EGMHA nomination form on the website (can be found by clicking the links with the award name in the article).   

Nominations will close at end of day on Sunday March 10th. Winners will be announced at the end of the season.

Player Awards

Allen Albright Memorial HEART Award

This award is presented to player from U8/U9 House League who exemplifies the qualities that Allen Albright demonstrated in his play and love for the game:

H - Hockey Skills Improvement

E - Enthusiasm for practices and games

A - Adherences to rules and fair play

R - Respect towards team and game officials

T - Team Spirit with demonstrated support towards others less skilled


Allan Case Memorial Award

This award is presented to the U13 or U15 Local League player, who plays the game with dignity, shows love for the game, commitment to the team, sportsmanship and respect for the officials, for the spirit of the sport, not the winning of the game.

Spirit Awards

The symbol for the EGMHA Spirit Award is the Inukshuk. The Inukshuk symbol means 'someone was here' or 'you are on the right path' and both meanings are fitting for the EGMHA Spirit Award.  

The Spirit Awards are meant to recognize those who, through their earnest contribution to community hockey, have made their presence felt.  The award will honour those who, through inspired action, generosity, compassionate behaviour, or kind gestures have brought the best aspects of the human spirit to our arena.

Spirit Awards for nomination include:


Player Spirit Award

Open to all players in every division, looking for a player who:

·       puts others before him/herself

·       volunteers their time in various age appropriate capacities (in the community)

·       sets a positive example for those around them at hockey showing compassion, kindness and integrity


Volunteer Spirit Award

Open to all volunteers in the association, looking for a volunteer who:

·       has made a difference in the hockey community

·       has a positive attitude, treats others with compassion, kindness, respect and generosity

·       may also volunteer their time in the community (as well as at the rink)


Team Spirit Award
Open to all teams in every division, looking for a team that has:

·       worked together to make a difference through various capacities

·       they set the example for others in the league

·       make contributions to the community via initiatives (may be one or two) that they have done together
