2019/20 Select Team Coach Announcements
Submitted By EGMHA Webmaster (JM) on Thursday, August 29, 2019
EGMHA is proud to announce our Select Team Coaches for the 2019/2020 hockey season.

Minor Novice: Jarrett Rose
Atom:      Ryan Gray
PeeWee:      David James
Bantam:      Dan Ruby

We would like to thank all coaches who applied.

EGMHA is piloting a new process for Select team tryouts this season.  When signing in for HL or LL Assessments, players will be asked if they would like to be considered for the Select team in their age group.

If they indicate yes, they will be evaluated during their House League or Local League assessments.  After the assessments are completed, the top group of players will be invited to a final Select Team Tryout to be held in the next week where the Select Team Coaches will make their final selections.

The EGMHA Calendar has the times posted for the HL and LL Assessments and the final Select Tryouts, please see that page for times.

The Select Hockey program is offered in EG to give registered House League & Local League hockey players a slightly more competitive alternative, without having to commit to the rigors of Rep in terms of expense, intensity and travel while at the same time maintaining a commitment to their HL & LL team.  It is a requirement that HL & LL hockey will take precedence over Select team commitments.

Select players may have additional practices and participate in exhibition games against Select teams from other organizations.  In addition, teams may enter tournaments over the season.  It is an excellent level of hockey for those who wish to challenge themselves a little more.

In addition to HL & LL registration fees, there is a separate cost to play Select hockey. The cost may vary for each team, depending on individual team budgets for number of practices, number of games and tournaments entered, other fixed team costs, offset by any fundraising and sponsorship that the team may decide to do. Select team time and financial commitments will be discussed by the Coaches with the families once teams are formed.

We wish all our Select Teams good luck this season.
