Our Tyke Select Team is showing that even young players can make a difference in their community. Over the past month, they have been collecting food and donations to go towards their team efforts in the EGMHA's Hockey 4 Hunger Food Drive.
This year was the 7th year for the Hockey 4 Hunger Food Drive. Over the previous six years, EG hockey players have donated over 65,000 lbs! The overall goal of this food drive is to get much needed food donations for local, less fortunate families while teaching our young players the importance of “giving back” with something that many of us take for granted – FOOD!
Our Tyke Select players, went door to door to collect food donations and on the weekend of Nov 22 & 23rd ran a Silent Auction and Penny Table to help raise funds in order to buy more food and much needed items to donate on behalf of their team.
In total these efforts resulted in the team collecting 2863.6 lbs of food (which works out to 190.91 lbs per player)!!!!
Even though they may be small, they have pretty mighty hearts and showed that together working as team they can make a real difference in our community. We are proud of you Eagles (and all other players from EGMHA who supported the H4H campaign).
